Back to Life

Problem: Children usually graduate from the orphanage after 9th grade and are turned out, unprepared for life outside the home. Many girls will end up in prostitution. Those who run prostitution rings target orphaned girls, who are especially vulnerable due to their lack of options and lack of people who care what happens to them. Though promised good jobs, they end up on the streets and brothels of cities across Europe. Most of the boys will commit crimes once leaving the orphanage. Many of them will die young because of violence or end up in prison. Most inmates contract TB in prison.Cizo3
Within two years of leaving the orphanage…
• Only 27% will find work
• 30% will become addicted to drugs
• 60% of the girls will become prostitutes
• 70% of the boys will turn to crime
• 15% will commit suicide
Our story: When one time we visited the prison for teenagers, we met there teenagers from the orphanages who were sentenced to 3-4 years in prison for stealing mobile phones. After graduating from orphanages and boarding schools they were left alone on the street without education, work and money. We began to correspond with them by mail, to communicate by telephone and to visit the place again and again.
The results were startling!
Because we shared the love and hope with these young people their lives began to change. They started to have Bible studies in their cells, quit bad habits. Now, these teenagers are looking forward for a new life without crime.
Our goal: They inspired us to develop Back to Life program to help teenagers who are now in the detention centers and also support them when they’ll be out of prison.
